Additional information

Health & Safety HEALTH & SAFETY NOTES This is an active outdoor experience that combines rainforest hiking, uneven natural terrain, and a water activity. Please review the following information before participating. Physical Activity The Mount Britton portion includes approximately 1.5 hours of total hiking, including the ascent to Mount Britton Tower and the return to the vehicle. The trail includes inclines, uneven surfaces, stairs, rocks, roots, and potentially slippery sections. Guests should be comfortable walking for extended periods and navigating uneven natural terrain. Weather & Heat Puerto Rico's tropical climate can be hot and humid, and weather conditions can change quickly in the rainforest. Guests should stay hydrated, use sun protection, and dress appropriately for warm and humid conditions. Rain is possible in El Yunque even when conditions are dry elsewhere in Puerto Rico. Trail & Natural Terrain Rainforest trails and natural areas may be wet, muddy, slippery, or uneven. Good footwear with adequate traction is strongly recommended. Guests should remain with the group and follow the guide's instructions regarding trail conditions and safe areas. Las Paylas & Water Activity The Las Paylas portion involves walking downhill and uphill over natural terrain to reach the Río Pitahaya. The river area contains rocks and other uneven surfaces that may be slippery when wet. The natural waterslide and surrounding river area are natural features rather than developed recreational facilities. Guests should use appropriate caution and follow the guide's instructions. Participation in the water activity is optional. Guests who do not wish to enter the water may remain in the surrounding area, subject to the conditions and space available at the site. Water Conditions Natural water levels, current strength, water clarity, and surface conditions can vary depending on recent weather and rainfall. For this reason, the guide will evaluate conditions on the day of the tour. If conditions are considered unsuitable, portions of the water activity may be modified, shortened, or omitted. Swimming & Water Comfort Guests entering the river or natural pools should be comfortable in a natural-water environment. The water activity should not be considered a substitute for a supervised swimming facility. Guests should never enter water areas beyond their comfort or ability level. Personal Health Considerations Guests should consider their own physical condition before participating. Please advise your guide before the tour if you have any condition, injury, mobility limitation, or other circumstance that could affect your ability to safely participate in hiking or water activities. If you have a medical condition or are unsure whether this activity is appropriate for you, consult your healthcare professional before participating. Footwear & Personal Belongings Closed-toe hiking or athletic shoes with good traction are strongly recommended for the rainforest portion. For Las Paylas, guests should expect their footwear and clothing to become wet. Water-resistant protection for phones, cameras, and other valuables is recommended. Wildlife & Environment El Yunque is a protected natural environment. Guests should not approach, feed, or handle wildlife and should remain on designated or appropriate paths as directed by the guide. Please help us protect the rainforest by leaving natural objects where they are and carrying all personal trash out of the area. Guide & Itinerary Adjustments Safety takes priority over the planned schedule. The guide may adjust the pace, route, duration, or sequence of activities based on weather, trail conditions, water conditions, park conditions, or the needs of the group. The itinerary is therefore an estimated schedule, and actual timing may vary. Emergency Considerations Because portions of the experience take place in a natural environment away from conventional facilities, emergency assistance may not be immediately available. Guests should follow the guide's instructions throughout the tour and immediately communicate any discomfort, injury, illness, or safety concern to the guide. By participating in the experience, guests acknowledge that hiking and natural-water activities involve inherent risks associated with outdoor environments and variable natural conditions. Please let us know before the tour if anyone in your group has a medical condition, mobility limitation, injury, or other concern that may affect participation in hiking or water activities.
