Itinerary

We begin at 2:00 PM and head toward Piñones in Loíza, a coastal area famous for its vibrant local culture and authentic Puerto Rican food. Here, we’ll enjoy a selection of delicious traditional frituras, some of Puerto Rico’s favorite street foods, while taking in beautiful ocean views. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy refreshing coconut water served straight from the coconut. On weekends, traffic to Piñones can sometimes be heavy. If conditions make the area difficult to access, we have an alternative: a visit to a popular local craft brewery and beach club, where beer lovers can enjoy a sampler of different beers, including flavored options. This alternative is discussed and decided as a group based on traffic conditions. We then continue to Santurce for a taste of classic Puerto Rican cuisine, including arroz con gandules and slow-roasted pork topped with the irresistible crispy cuerito, inspired by the traditional flavors of a Puerto Rican lechonera. Next, we visit the iconic Caribe Hilton, where you’ll learn about the fascinating story and origins of the Piña Colada. Enjoy Puerto Rico’s famous national drink while discovering how this tropical cocktail became known around the world. We then take a scenic drive through Old San Juan, sharing more about the Piña Colada and the city’s rich history. Our culinary journey ends with one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic dishes: mofongo, made with plantains and flavorful local ingredients. Vegetarian guests are welcome, with delicious options available.
