About this experience
This is a Custom Tour: This is a combo tour and it includes pier pick-up, guided tour, and drop-off. We'll start with transportation to the recreational corridor of El Yunque National Forest, driving up through mountain Road 191 in order to have interactions with La Coca Waterfall, Yokahu Tower, and Baño Grande Pool. One the return leg, we'll stop for a quick lunch at a local restaurant with rice and rotisserie chicken. Then on to Old San Juan for a historical tour. Here we'll learn about our walled city, its purpose, how it was fortified, and discover the flourishing of our cultural identity. We'll visit the Walkway of the Presidents on the South side of our State Capitol (Politics), learn of Rafael Hernandez Marin (Culture), then drive around Columbus Square, drive along the North wall on Calle Norzagaray to observe the Fortifications San Cristobal and San Felipe del Morro (Military Architecture), and enter the interior of Old Town bringing it all together (Historical). The tour finishes with pier drop-off. First Stop: El Yunque Rainforest Hiking to Waterfall - 2 hours On visiting Puerto Rico, the component rainforest should not be overlooked. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has the only tropical rainforest managed by the U.S. Forest Service. A visit here is an event in and of itself. Second stop: Lunch is 15 - 30 minutes Visit an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant to enjoy lunch. You will learn of our food and eat as a local. Eat your expense, but pay as a local. (Absolutely no kick backs involved.) Given early notice, non-dairy, and vegetarian options can be arranged. Third Stop: San Juan National Historic Site - 2 hours Learn of the U.S. National Park Service-managed site in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, that preserves and interprets the historic Spanish colonial-era fortifications of the city; today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additional Time: Whatever time isn't accounted for in this 6 hour itinerary is attributed to the driving time to and back from El Yunque National Forest. On average it take 50 -55 minutes to go from the pier to the first stop, La Coca Waterfall, and roughly the same amount of time to get back. Pick-up can be adjusted as needed that same morning. I will be there by 7:45 AM to allow for the early start. Drop-off back at the pier will be just prior to 2:30 PM or when need be, according to you.
